Six Ways To Make Money Using Your Digital Camera

Monday, October 24th, 2011

These are difficult times for numerous people, so it is a good time to attempt to earn from multiple earning streams. Naturally, numerous people are doing this already with a part-time second job, but what if you could have more fun than working in MacDonald’s on the weekend? Hilarious as that may be.

Most individuals have a camera – even a digital camera. I put it like this because you have more control over the photo with a digital camera, so you have more chance of creating the photo that you would like and this is vital if you would like to sell your work.

Pet Portraits: numerous individuals like to have portraits of their beloved cat or dog. These photos are not a problem to take, because animals are so photogenic. There are several ways you could play this or you could have several different choices, all at different rates

Option One: six photos of kitty in different situations on a CD

Option Two: as over, but with the client’s favourite digital image printed out and framed. You would offer a choice of sizes and frames at different prices here.

Option Three: as option one, but with an oil painting of the favourite photograph again in different sizes and frames

You can use a printing service for option two until you can afford to purchase your own printer. The oil paintings you can have done in the Far East from photos.

Graduation Photographs: are very much appreciated by parents and grandparents and once again, you could offer at least three different choices. Graduation photos are a good notion because not everyone goes to their nearest college or university and parents cannot always be there.

Picture Editing: many people have a digital camera or a cell phone that takes photographs, but not everybody has a computer, or editing software or knows how to use it if they do have it. You could edit, crop, brighten and frame their amateurish photos and create a nice CD photo album.

You could offer to create several themed photo albums from a jumble of hundreds of photos that they have collected at random over the year(s).

Photo Presents: you could team up with a novelty gift store or a personalized gift store and turn people’s favourite photos into personalized, novelty presents. Photographs, especially digital photographs, can be transferred to almost anything these days: coffee mugs, beer mats, coasters, T-shirts, postcards, calendars, pens, ties, you name it.

Framed Photos: places like waiting rooms, front offices, taverns and restaurants like to have tasteful pictures on the wall. You could offer a set of photos on a theme to every establishment according to what they would like. A construction firm may like photos of the board and of their best jobs (presumably they are still standing).

Pub landlords frequently move around a fair bit, so they could have a set of photos of pubs they have owned. Or a series of photos of the current pub, with some historical captions.

Prized Photos: numerous people with expensive possessions like photographs of them – a beautiful home, boat, car or model. Go to the local marina, walk down an expensive street or go to an enthusiasts club meeting (go-kart racing, remote controlled models). Go to fights or local fashion shows and offer photos to contestants or models.

A Fire Safety Checklist For The Home

Saturday, June 25th, 2011

The way in which to handle situations which could reasonably be expected to result in panic is to have a plan of action firmly fixed in your mind already, so that in the event, you only have to follow routine. This is how people are taught in the military and in rescue organizations. They have procedures and routines and they practice them until they become second nature.

This is not so simple in a domestic situation especially with regard to a house fire – you cannot realistically pretend that you have a house fire and you cannot merely set fire to bits of it either, so the next best thing is to possess a checklist to prevent fires happening and to go through the checklist on a regular basis – say, weekly.

Many house fires begin in the kitchen, so you could start there:

1] Is the oven clean? The rings and the oven need to be clean or the debris can catch fire.

2] Are the curtains so long that they can become blown onto a hot ring if the window is open? This is a frequent cause of kitchen fires, particularly if you hang new curtains in the winter or spring but do not realize that the wind can blow them into the rings until the summer while you open the windows

3] Are the flexes on your electrical devices all right? Check for fraying or wear and tear. Are any of the electrical sockets overloaded? It is not a good idea to use adapters in the kitchen – stick to the principle of one plug in one socket and a pretty good habit is to unplug anything you are not using, even the kettle or the coffee percolator

The home’s heating system is a fire risk, after all it is meant to be hot, so check it:

1] All heaters ought to be switched off while there is no one to keep an eye on them, with the exception of central heating. Turn bar fires off if you go out or go to bed and always fix a guard in front of open fires if you leave the room. ‘Fix’ a guard with clips, do not only stand one in front of the fire because a falling log or lump of coal can knock a guard over.

2] Can curtains or other fabrics blow into the fire or get heated to the purpose of combustion? Occasionally, crowd pull their seat or couch up to the fire yet fall asleep or go to bed leaving the seat to heat up.

3] Is the chimney clean? Soot can and does catch fire so have your chimney cleared or inspected regularly.

4] Similarly with the furnace, is it clean but soot-free?

5] If you use gas, are the bottles stored outside the house?

5) Has the furnace been cleaned and inspected this year?

6) Are the propane tanks but fuels stored outside the house?

Then there are general points:

1] Do you have a house fire safety evacuation drill? Do you have a muster purpose, so that everybody knows that everyone is out of the house but safe?

2] Are electric leads, cables and extension leads in good condition? Do you have any under carpets? If so, you ought to not actually, so check them for wear.

3] Are any sockets overloaded? Are all devices that are not in use unplugged?

4] Do you have smoke detectors? Do you check that they are working? Do you have a spare battery in case one fails?

Home Theater Lighting

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

Light fixtures are things that not many of us think about very often. However, the way we light a room can cause us to feel a certain way or enhance the atmosphere we want to create in that room. There are many types of light fixtures, fittings, bulbs, shades and stands to suit all areas of the home. That means both indoors and even outdoors where you might want to emphasize some special landscaping design.

Are you planning to redo a room? In this case, I know it concerns a home movie theater room, because my friend, Owen Jones, asked me to give some advice. I definitely think that you should consider light fixtures as one element to change. For instance, you could start by altering the central, overhead incandescent bulb or tube light for sure.

I suggest that you install four or even six small wall-lights. They need not be expensive and come in hundreds of colours and sizes to suit any purse. The only disadvantage of wall lighting for your home theater, is that the wires should really be chased into the wall so as not to be visible.

However, you could get around this by buying standard lamps. These are also available in a myriad of designs, but they come with two disadvantages: namely trailing wires and a higher cost. They are very easily moveable though. Small, table lamps is a sub-class of this alternative, but you may need more electrical sockets.

Once you have decided on what you want, have each lamp dimmable either in unison or separately, up to you. You should probably keep one fairly powerful light at the business end of things in case the equipment needs seeing to, but it too could be on a dimmer.

The effect can be quite incredible. And all from just changing the pre-existing light fixtures and fittings. You could even increase the level of reality and have an exit sign over the door or a few romantic mood lamps higher up out of line of sight so that they are not distracting, say, a replica 1970s style lunar lamp and a fibre-optic lamp, for amusement or as a talking point while waiting for the film or snacks to be got ready.

So, whatever style home theater lighting you are considering, contemporary or old style traditional, you will find many options to choose from. From different colors to different sizes and styles, there are many. You can find them on the Internet or in home improvement shops. I have made a link to one of my online favourites below.

Furthermore, when you do implement the changes, you will notice that your home theater has taken on an ambiance all of its own and it will “definitely” enhance your home movie theater experience. In fact, it may be these subtle changes, room by room, that make you see your home in a very different light.

Nike Golf Shoes

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Nike golf shoes are one of the pieces of apparel you can use to raise the quality of your game. If you have only played golf in casual footwear so far, or if you’re just looking for a way to improve your general game, investing in a good pair of golf shoes can make a large difference. Just like in other sports, the shoes you wear can directly affect your game.

As you have to develop a smooth swing and be able to follow through on that swing in golf, all without losing any control of the strength in your stroke, your golf shoes can help or spoil your game for you. Nike golf shoes are designed to help you balance, gripping the turf as much as necessary yet allowing you to put full strength and control behind each and every swing.

Since these golf shoes have special compartments in the heels, every step is easier to make. They offer the level of support your feet, legs and knees require in order to play golf very comfortably over long periods of time.

Because golf usually involves a lot of walking, Nike golf shoes have been constructed as a blend of walking shoe and golf shoe. Each step you take cushions your legs and knees against impact, allowing you to concentrate your strength and effort on your game of golf, rather than how to make your way to the next hole or to wherever your ball has landed.

When you go to buy Nike golf shoes, there are several things that you should bear in mind. The first thing you need to consider is what level of skill you have achieved. Golf, like many other sports, has equipment that can be used by novices or advanced professionals alike.

In most cases, amateurs pick Nike golf shoes designed for professionals, but rarely end up getting the full potential of the shoe, since they are not certain how they can be used to their best advantage.

While professionals definitely do get great use out of these Nike golf shoes, it is often better for beginners to purchase entry level Nike golf shoes which would better suit their needs. The increase in power given to your stroke would often be lost on those who are beginners, as they do not yet possess the requisite skill to control the stroke as much as they would need to.

Therefore, it is best to purchase the Nike golf shoes that fit your level of skill, as these shoes will have the comfort and functionality you need. You can buy Nike golf shoes from a number of sources. For those who want cheaper shoes yet still require the quality of the professional shoes, you can buy last season’s models from Nike outlet centers.

If you want only top of the line shoes, you can purchase from online Nike stockists or through a number of online and local retail vendors (see below).

Home Movie Theater Projectors

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Going to the movies is a very popular recreation especially for those young professionals living a considerably stressful life running corporate affairs. However, for those who cannot afford to waste time traveling to and from movie theaters, the answer to this recreational dilemma might be just inside their own house.

Why not recreate the visual and sound systems of the movie theaters with your very own custom home theater system? The best custom home theater set up certainly can include high quality components that are capable of recreating the entire movie theater experience without having to drive from your house to the movie theater spending time and effort waiting in heavy traffic. This modern technology can give you the relaxation and experience that full-sized movie theaters provide.

The basic components: a wide screen and loudspeakers with clear and flicker free images from a high quality DVD, can easily create quite an authentic movie-going experience. Home theater professionals recommend that before you choose the final set-up and equipment for your custom home theater system, the dimensions of the room must be the first thing to think about.

Therefore, if you have a small size room in mind for your home theater system, a television set may be best placed in the center of one wall and three speakers, placed on the left, right and center, could be enough to create the surround sound you desire from a custom movie theater. However, if you have a larger room, a home theater projector might be the better bet for recreating that big screen experience.

Home theater projector screens can provide an authentic movie theater experience. If you have a very rather room for your home theater system, in conjunction with your home theater projector and home theater projector screen, you could add some more loudspeakers around the room. Another useful tip is that a sub-woofer may also help to provide the optimum surround sound to allow you to produce that true sound of a movie theater in your own living room.

There are various designs and models of home theater projector you can choose from. You will need to understand the features of each one, before you decide on which one to buy. It may also be necessary for you to enlist the services of a home theater designer in order to get the home theater package that will give you the best entertainment. This will mean not needing to spend an unreasonable amount of time and money on your home theater system and home theater projector.

It is very easy to buy equipment with more capacity than you need for your home theater, especially if you not acquainted with the possible choices and the various requirements that your home theater may have due to the room’s measurements. The diagonal width of your home theater projector screen should be a function of the size of your custom home theater and the equipment in your custom home theater. For example, from where you intend to sit to the screen should be between two and five times the diameter of the screen. Therefore, looking at it another way, if you want to sit 10 feet (120 inches) from the screen, then the screen should be 24-60 inches, but it is subject to personal preference and depends on the viewers eyesight.

Your home theater expert might also propose options for your home theater that may not include a television set. Why? The reason for this is the technological innovations employed by computers and home theater projectors. Home theater projectors like InFocus screenplay models, for example, can be hooked up with a computer in a small room set-up. Home theater projectors are also lightweight and can be transported effortlessly. Therefore, a projector is very useful for employment in custom home theaters and business presentations.

Home theater projectors and home theater projector screens do help provide a true cinematic experience. This type of installation is particularly handy for business presentations and therefore it is becoming ever more in demand. This combination of your custom home and custom office theater systems is a brand new phenomenon, which only a few smart customers have dreamt up.

I am sure that being aware of all these facts: that is, that a basic television, three speakers and a DVD player can be enough for those people who only want a start-up home theater, you may well come to the conclusion that you do not really require a home theater projector, especially if the room set aside for your custom home theater system is not that big.

You can enjoy a cinematic experience right there in your own home by considering your options carefully. You can then experience the relaxation a movie theater can provide without having to put up with boring traffic jams on the way back and fore to the movie theater.

Learning From Golf Lessons

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

It has never easy asking for help, but in golf, it is practically a necessity. Unfortunately, we often ask our friends and partners, when in reality we should take a lesson or two with a professional, usually called the Club Pro.

We may possibly think that a Pro would be too critical, but in fact, they are honest, positive and usually very helpful.

Lessons at the local golf course aren’t as expensive as you might think and they are worth it because your game will improve more rapidly and cause you less frustration, making the game much more enjoyable for you.

It is of utmost importance to be absolutely honest about your game. The Pro will ask you what you want to learn: driving, chipping, putting or whatever you feel you need help with.

Listen carefully and follow the Pro’s instructions. You may have doubts if the Pro changes your stance, your grip or your swing, but really, the Pro does know best.

Oh and don’t hesitate to ask the Pro golfer any questions you may have and don’t worry about whether your question or concern may sound silly – they’ve heard it all before and will not make you feel like a fool for inquiring. If you don’t understand, tell the Pro that you do not get it. You should never walk away from a lesson with unanswered questions.

For example, a strategy might be to concentrate on one thing during a lesson, or on several. You might start with a lesson on driving; get the right grip, the right stance, the right swing, the right follow-through in one lesson, and then practice it for a few weeks until you feel that you’ve got it right. Next time, you might want to work on your short game, or putting.

You’ve invested in your golfing equipment and it isn’t cheap, so it doesn’t make sense not to learn how to use it to it’s best advantage and improve your abilities, does it?

Tanning Bed Suggestions

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

Many people like to have bronzed skin. Athletes, people who train in gyms, people with high-profile jobs, executives and many more like to have an even, all year tan. Then there are those who like to start their tan before they go on vacation to a hot destination. This is very sensible, because it is too much of a shock to the skin to go from no sun to 40c in one day. It is far better to train your skin to get used to higher temperatures before you go.

This is all very well if you have your home in a hot part of the country, but if you did you would not need to keep topping your tan up anyway. Therefore people turn to tanning beds, tanning booths and tanning lamps. Some people purchase their own tanning bed or booth, but most people go to a tanning salon. If you have a spare room and some spare money, owning your own tanning bed is definitely a supreme luxury.

Owning your own tanning bed means that you do not have to plan journeys to the tanning salon, that there is no travelling or waiting and that your tanning bed is always waiting for you. However, you will be unassisted, so it is a very good idea to buff up on the health and safety advice linked with tanning beds. There ought to have been a pamphlet with the tanning bed when you bought it, but if you bought it second hand it may have been lost.

If your safety booklet has been lost, you could write to the manufacturers and suggest to pay for a replacement or you could just follow the general advice that refers to all tanning beds. Another good idea is to have a few sessions at a tanning salon and learn as much as you can. However, in general, behave toward your tanning bed as you would the sun in the tropics, that is with a great deal of respect.

The first thing you definitely have to do before getting onto your tanning bed is rub a sun tan lotion which includes a moisturizer into your skin. This is where you will have to exercise the most caution. When you are outside in the sun, you choose to block some of the sun’s rays, because you want to spend a couple of hours outside.

However, in a way, the opposite is the case on a tanning bed, you want to get bronzed and you do not want to spend hours lying on the bed. Therefore, you will need a specialized moisturizer, tanning lotion. There are enough of them in the pharmacy, just ask.

A lot of people like to wear a head scarf or bathing hat to stop their hair from drying out. Then there are safety precautions such as goggles to take care of your eyes. Never, in any circumstances, look directly into a tanning lamp while it is on without eye protection. If you are going for an all over tan, you might find it useful to put a few sticking plasters or band-aids over your pink bits or men might need a hankie or a flannel.

Check your tanning bed’s safety timer, before using the bed for the first time and on a regular basis after that. Make sure that it is accurate and that you can rely on it. After the tanning bed session, shower and remoisturize to replenish your skin, but not with the same tanner-moisturizer you used to tan with.

Home Movie Theater: Screens

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

When it comes to choosing a projection or TV screen, the first thing to think about is the kind of screen you want or even may need. If the room where you are setting up your home movie theater is a big one, then you will need to have a home theater projection screen or maybe you just want to go down that route anyway.

I, personally, like the idea of having a drop-down screen, but sometimes you have to have one even in a modest home theater. It converts your living room into a home theater: you recline in your chair; click a button and a screen drops down; click a button and the lights dim; click another one and the movie begins!

However, if you prefer a television screen, then you might be considering buying a new one. They say that a 27 inch screen is big enough, but I do not think it is. I think you need 48-60 inches, but then I’m a baby-boomer and my eyes are definitely not what they were.

If you are buying a new TV for your home theater, I think you should aim high. HDTV is upon us and since February 2009 the USA is committed to High Definition. So, I would make sure that your new TV is capable of receiving it. Then I suggest that the new home theater screen be a flat one to reduce the annoying glare that could ruin the experience. (This could be another reason for opting for a projection screen).

Then you should ensure that the new television has enough input and output sockets for the equipment you plan to use and youre done. So, to summarize, I would go for:

More than a 27 inch screen

A flat screen

HDTV compliant

Enough input and output plugs and sockets

Satellite enabled

I recommend satellite compatibility because it is probably the future or near future at least. If you get a satellite TV connection you will have access to HDTV downloads which you can watch whenever you like.
